Thomas Tuchel believes he needs to accept responsibility for not trusting Tammy Abraham last season. The striker’s future lies in the balance with Italy being the favored destination. A transfer fee has been agreed with Roma. Abraham has to decide whether he would move abroad. A fee of £34m has been agreed upon between the two clubs. He was the leading goalscorer for Chelsea last season with 12 goals. This was despite the fact that he had just five appearances for Thomas Tuchel after the departure of Frank Lampard.
“I will not comment on the actual situations – how far this is and if it’s true and not true,” Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said about Tammy Abraham. “Tammy is right now in the squad. He did some good preparation matches. He was clearly not happy with the last half a year and maybe he has reason also not to be happy and maybe it was also my fault not to push him through, not to trust him on the same level I maybe trusted other players.”
“I can absolutely understand that he wants more minutes,” he added. ”So the decision will be about ‘how do we plan, what are Tammy’s plans, does he fight his way back into the team from the position where he ended last season or does he want to change the club to have the chance of being a regular starter?'”
