Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar writes that the Catalan club will not be able to afford a move for the 20-year-old Norwegian should they extend the contract of forwarding Lionel Messi.
According to Sport, the signing of Erling Haaland may be crucial in retaining Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, whose deal with the club is due to expire at the end of the season.
Barcelona is said to have made Erling Haaland their main choice for a new striker this summer. Since joining the Bundesliga team in January 2020, the Borussia Dortmund man has been in scintillating shape, scoring 33 goals in 31 appearances this season.
A deal for Haaland is estimated at €125-130m and Barca do not have that amount of money. The club that will sign the Norwegian will have to pay not only to Borussia Dortmund but also his agent Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge Haaland.
It was previously reported that the Borussia Dortmund forward is the main transfer target of new Barca president Joan Laporta.
The player has scored 21 goals and made 4 assists in 21 Bundesliga games this season.
