Giuseppe Marotta, Inter Milan’s chief executive, confirmed that the club has yet to reach an agreement with Manchester United to extend Alexis Sanchez’s loan contract.

Chile ‘s international Sanchez spent 2019-20 in San Siro, after struggling to make an impact during his first 18 months with United.

For Inter this season, the 31-year-old has also been underwhelmed, but the Nerazzurri are looking to extend his contract until the end of the elongated Series A campaign.

Marotta was frustrated, however, with how talks with United had been panned out, while discussions with Chelsea on the fellow loan from Victor Moses are also ongoing.

He told Sky Sport Italia: “There is a massive regulatory problem that needs to be addressed because today we ‘re already negotiating with Chelsea and Manchester United to try and extend their loans. It’s not a pretty thing. We ‘re also dealing with Ivan Perisic over Bayern Munich.”

Tottenham Hotspur was linked to a surprise move for Sanchez, who had previously been impressed over a four-and-a-half-year stay with North London rivals Arsenal.
