According to AS, Diego Simeone has given his Atletico management one task this summer. Atletico is asked to bringing him Thiago Almada, a young offensive midfielder of Velez whom the Argentine media call the great Juan Roman Riquelme’s successor.
Thiago Almada has entered and is getting closer and closer to Atlético de Madrid’s orbit. The management of sports, under Andrea Berta’s command, does not lose track. The club’s economic condition, in the air due to the coronavirus crisis, makes it very hard to guess when the season’s signings coming.
The 19-year-old, however, is seen as a choice that can produce both sporting and economic returns for the club.
Almada is a 19-year-old midfielder of offensive who has been a part of the Argentine cult community for ten years. He joined the seniors of his club two years ago after a younger generation and became a starter and their key player almost immediately.
It’ll be neither easy nor cheap to get. Velez, who is facing a fresh and exciting project at the bench with Mauricio Pellegrino, wants to retain his young star. Last September he extended his contract until 2023, with a time-increasing termination clause. It started at 19 million but is 22 million at the moment. If no club decides to buy it on the next market, it will ramp up to 25 million from 31 August
They are telling this newspaper from the Buenos Aires team that they have no intention of negotiating. “Pay the provision to whosoever loves Almada,” they say. They are persuaded that the interior is an adult gem and that it is not an exorbitant quality because it will cost even more as soon as it makes the jump to Europe.
The 19-year-old midfielder has accrued 25 appearances, five goals and two assists in all Almada competitions this season, and is currently a member of the Argentine U-20 team he has played seven games (one hit) for. Simeone is pleased with the young player so Atletico’s management sent a €22 million official bid.
