Thomas Tuchel used a dating example to try to calm Timo Werner down about his goalkeeping problems, telling the Chelsea striker that occasionally it helps to offer a woman space and let her invite you out for dinner.

Tuchel, on the other hand, intends to debut Werner against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s boss has offered his blessing to the £47 million forward, who has ten goals since joining RB Leipzig last summer and does not want him to do any more target practice.

According to The Guardian, Tuchel said: “He squanders the opportunity, and everyone is eager to chat about it, which is a little annoying. It is quick to point the finger at Timo, but I will not do so. I’m glad he’s back and he’ll be safe here. This kid has been scoring since he was five years old. Yesterday I sent him in from training because he wanted to do some finishing with us. I said: ‘You don’t need that, your body and your brain know how to score. If a woman does not want to go out for dinner with you, you cannot force her. You can just step a little bit back, then maybe she will call you up. The goals will come.”
