After the Benfica midfielder’s loan at Tottenham Hotspur was terminated, Galatasaray signed Gedson Fernandes on loan until the end of the season.
Fernandes, 22, was the first signing of boss Jose Mourinho at Spurs, joining the 18-month contract in January 2020.
The Portugal midfielder did not, however, start a single game in the Premier League.
For the remainder of the season, third-choice goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, 29, also went on loan, joining Spanish La Liga side Elche.
In August 2017, the Argentinean keeper joined Tottenham from Southampton and has played 37 Spurs games in all competitions.
His most fruitful campaign came in 2019-20, when he made 25 starts, including 18 in the Premier League and four in the Champions League, with first-choice Hugo Lloris missing with an elbow injury.
But since Spurs signed Joe Hart in the summer, Gazzaniga has not appeared at all since March – with the former England keeper appearing in seven Europa League matches and two FA Cup ties in 2020-21.
Gazzaniga joins the side of Elche, who are second-bottom of the top flight in Spain and danger of relegation.
Fernandes, who had recently tested positive for Covid-19, reportedly traveled by a special aircraft earlier on Monday and was greeted by an ambulance upon his arrival in Turkey.
On their website, Galatasaray announced the transfer as Spurs sent their best wishes to the player.
Out of a total of 14 appearances in all Tottenham competitions, Fernandes made four starts.
