During Hibs’ Scottish Cup win over Queen of the South on Monday night, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to run the rule over Doig.

The 18-year-old has so far this season scored once and assisted on four goals in 24 league games. He joined Hibs in the summer of 2019. He was then awarded a long-term extension which will last until the summer of 2025.

Hibernian Left-Back In Demand: Doig As A Substitute

Hibernian Left-Back In Demand

Celtic showed interest in signing Doig in January. No substantial attempts were made to sign him. With Christian Fuchs set to depart Leicester at the end of the season as his contract expires, the Foxes see Doig as a long-term substitute given his immense potential.

Leeds has left-back choices in Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas, so they could use a natural alternative going forward. Hibs will like to keep the £1.5 million-rated defender, but they are aware that major clubs will come knocking this summer with tempting deals.

Doig has not yet guaranteed consistent Premier League time. To abandon Edinburgh, he would undoubtedly be persuaded. Leicester and Leeds are more likely to give him a straightforward route to the first team than Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

However, he must continue to play consistently in order to progress, and staying at Hibs for one or two more seasons could be the best choice for his growth. Leicester City is currently keeping a close watch on Hibernian’s teenage left-back Josh Doig.

Over a move to the Premier League, The 18-year-old is no stranger to speculation. Manchester City, Leeds United, and Arsenal have been linked with Doig in the past.
