Madrid was said to be ready to listen to international offers for Spain this summer as its contract at the Bernabeu expires in June 2021.
As per sources, Chelsea was also exploring the possibility of signing Vazquez when the transfer window opens for business this summer.
This season could have been Real Madrid player Lucas Vazquez living in Bernabeu. The 28-year-old struggled during the 2019-20 season for daily practices, playing just six matches in La Liga and scoring only three goals in all the competitions. Recently, rumors that Los Blancos made it available for transfer in the run-up to the 2020-21 campaign have cited Chelsea’s presence in Spain.
Chelsea showed interest in Lucas Vazquez, a Real Madrid star, stating that the Blues see Vazquez as a ‘very good choice’ to replace Pedro and Willian.
Spain’s nine-capped international has made just eight starts in all this season’s competitions and will turn 29 in July.
The player wanted to stay at Bernabeu but his contract expires within 12 months with his deal-Zinedine Zidane’s side agreed to sell for about £17million.
Vazquez also confirmed he could move to the Premier League, but the attacker will remain in Madrid this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report claims Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of the academy player at the club, who has made over 200 appearances in all competitions for his current side. Vazquez is said to have ‘offers for departure’ but would prefer to stay in Spain’s capital.
The 28-year-old has only contributed three goals and two assists in 18 appearances this season for Los Blancos, while he’s just started six La Liga matches this term for the Spanish giants.
