This summer, both Manchester City and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in the River Plate center-back to Lucas Martinez Quarta during the transfer window.
The 23-year-old who made his Argentina debut in September 2019 has represented River 96 times since his 2016 debut.
City and Madrid are also in the search for the defender ahead of the forthcoming transfer deadline, which may be put back because of the current chaos in the football world, according to Calciomercato.
The article says that Quarta’s new contract with Marcelo Gallardo’s side has a €22 m (£19.3 m) release clause.
A number of other clubs are still thought to be in the running, but with interest attributed to the likes of Inter Milan, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Betis all.
During the current season, Quarta has appeared on 20 occasions for River.
