Real Madrid lacked imagination in a bad game at Atalanta, but Zinedine Zidane was pleased with the way they stuck to the mission.

Zinedine Zidane was injured-struck Real Madrid did not do justice on its own to 10-man Atalanta but was happy to win a 1-0 advantage in the Champions League.

Zidane knows that Madrid’s fifth consecutive win was not pretty, but he was happy to take the upper hand going home for the second leg on March 16.

The head coach of Madrid said: “Tonight we didn’t play a fantastic game, but I think the result is the most important thing. Scoring, in the end, is what is important to us. We still have the second leg to play, but it’s a decent result.”
