Coach and former footballer Zinedine Zidane of Spanish club Real Madrid tested positive for Covid-19, the La Liga club announced on Friday. The Frenchman is now entering a self-isolation era.
Following near contact, Zidane was isolated earlier this month and tested positive for COVID-19, and did not attend a training session as a result. Following Real’s shock cup loss to third division side Alcoyano earlier this week, the Frenchman is under pressure.
Zidane is likely to miss the away match at Alaves on Saturday, with his assistant David Bettoni set to take over. In the league standings, Real Madrid is second, seven points behind Atletico Madrid.
Earlier this season, Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard, midfielder Casemiro and defender Eder Militao tested positive as well.
