The hosts had a goal controversially disallowed as both teams produced one of the uneventful football results of the weekend in the Championship. Chances were few and far between for both teams with Lee Nicholls producing a stunning save in the dying minutes to deny John Fleck. Huddersfield extends their unbeaten run to 12 games.
Huddersfield’s Carlos Corberan: “The feeling from the players is that they didn’t make a foul. I know that when the game is balanced, demanding, and challenging, these types of situations are going to happen in the boxes. It would be impossible to be happier with [Nicholls]. I would rather he didn’t touch the ball than have to make saves but the players have a lot of trust in him. He has had some clean sheets where he has made excellent saves and that was one of them today.”
Sheffield United’s Paul Heckingbottom: “Selfishly we would’ve loved to have ended their unbeaten record. But they’re playing well and you’ve got to respect that and you can see why they’re really hardworking and well organized. It looked like two good teams going at it, trying their own way to win a game, no one taking a backward step. It probably made for a decent spectacle. The Wales international has been giving Championship defenses problems to deal with all season and although he could not manage to help Huddersfield to a decisive goal, his darting runs, crosses, and clever passes gave Sheffield United plenty to think about.”
