Vakoun Bayo scored a last-minute winner to help Watford produce one of the narrow football results of the weekend in the Championship. Rodrigo Muniz put the visitors ahead in the fourth minute before Ismalia Sarr equalized in the 24th minute. Bayo scored the winner in the third minute of stoppage time to complete the comeback marking 100 years at Vicarage Road.
Managers Reaction
Watford’s Rob Edwards: “Time will tell [about the future of Sarr and Joao Pedro] and the last few weeks there has been a lot of interest, genuine interest as well. We will see how the next couple of days pans out but I am confident that by the end of the window we will be in a good place. They were great tonight and you could see their commitment to the club. They were celebrating in the changing room after as well. They are very good players and the goal really was sublime. We know they have got that in them. They performed well again tonight for everyone to see but whether that changes anything, I don’t know. Everyone at the club knows they help but at the same time we have got to be realistic about where we are at, in the Championship.”
Middlesbrough’s Chris Wilder: “Everyone knows that those two players [Sarr and Joao Pedro] shouldn’t be playing at this level because they have undoubted super quality. A shanked shot fell to their boy and he tucks it away, it was the perfect ending for their team but it wasn’t something we deserved to happen. I don’t think we were outplayed at all and in the second half looked the most likely to win it.”
