Steve Bruce was made to wait longer for his first win as manager after Luton Town produced one of the comfortable football scores of the weekend in the Championship. Cameron Jerome opened the scoring for the hosts in the 55th minute before Allan Campbell doubled their advantage in the 83rd minute. The Baggies had a stoppage-time header saved by Steer.
Managers Reaction
Luton’s Nathan Jones: “Three points, a clean sheet, they’ve hit the bar twice, but I wouldn’t say we rode our luck as we hit the post and missed a glorious chance in the first half. We gifted them a little bit first half but then apart from that, I thought we were excellent. We limited them to very little, especially the second half, and we know we’re a difficult side to play against here.”
West Brom’s Steve Bruce: “It’s not acceptable and I won’t accept that. The way we just fell apart was just blatantly obvious for everybody and to the traveling supporters, I can only say that I apologize and I will do my utmost to make sure that it doesn’t happen. We were nowhere near the response I would like especially when we went a goal down. Yes we’re on a bad run and confidence is low, I can understand that but we have to have a better reaction, as soon as they scored really just huffed and puffed and didn’t do enough as we did in the first half to impose ourselves against difficult opposition.”
