Preston North end once again played out a goalless draw as they produced one of the close football scores of the weekend in the Championship. They did have the better chances in the first half as Daniel Bachmann made good saves to shots from Alan Browne and Ryan Ledson. Watford was beginning to find ways to penetrate a stubborn North End defense looking to keep a fifth straight clean sheet in the league, but wasteful finishing was proving their downfall. Vakoun Bayo and Rey Manaj missed golden chances for the away side. Neither side could create further clear-cut chances, despite four minutes of added time, and both had to settle for a point.

Managers Reaction

Preston’s Ryan Lowe: “(Watford) are all big, strong lads – you don’t play in the Premier League for nothing. I know they’ve come down, but I thought we handled ourselves fantastically well. I thought there was a few moments which was a little bit scary in terms of their quality, but more importantly for us to keep playing the way we are on a weekly basis is pleasing for me.”

Watford’s Rob Edwards: “It was a hard-earned point that could have been three. (Preston) have shown they are very difficult to score against, but the thing is, maybe we could have taken one of our three or four big chances that we did have. Our goalkeeper has made some good saves as well, so if you don’t win it, make sure you don’t lose it.”
