Premier League legend Jermaine Defoe has advised the Next Gen stars to not waste a single training session during their career. He credited Football Sports Development Limited’s (FSDL) partnership with the Premier League in helping young Indian players engage internationally. Defoe believes that turning professional is the dream of any young footballer and advised them not to put too much pressure on themselves.

“I would have loved it because when you’re football mad like I was, it’s such a great experience and I’m sure they’ll embrace every moment,” Jermaine Defoe said talking about the Next Gen stars. “It’s a unique experience especially with facilities now. So, you’ve just got to enjoy every moment, not wasting a training session because it becomes tough, but it’s the best thing in the world.”

“It’s tough, it’s not easy but you just got to enjoy it. Nothing changes. I think you’ve just got to be single-minded, you have to be confident,” he added. “What an opportunity to become professionals and fulfill your dreams. You never know this can take you. Some of these players might even end up in Europe and play in the Premier League, so you never know. So you just enjoy it. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, just enjoy every moment and try to improve every day.”

Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters have announced the launch of their senior women’s team for the upcoming Kerala Women’s League.

“For Kerala Blasters FC, this project has been in the works for quite a while. As of today, Kerala has no representation in the Indian National team. This scenario should be changed. We have the vision to work towards that and develop our players into that caliber. KBFC contributing to that will be huge and as a club, our influence on that will be very crucial,” the director of the Kerala Blasters FC women’s team Rizwan said.
