Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that the club is constantly looking for the right player to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season. Klopp hinted that they would not look at bolstering the midfield after a number of injuries. But last year’s runners-up have managed to pick up just two points from their opening three games including a 2-1 loss to fellow strugglers Manchester United.
“You can imagine, we are actually working constantly on this kind of thing but there are reasons why sometimes they don’t happen,” Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said. “Sometimes it is too expensive, sometimes it’s not the right player. Then, the situation changes, but one thing that stays really important is that it needs to be the right player. We are working but we will see. If something will happen or not, I don’t know.”
“It must be the right player. Some players are just unavailable, that’s how it is, but if we can do something, and if we will do something, then we are 100 percent convinced about it. If we are not convinced, then we will not do it. That’s the situation,” he added. “If it’s the right player, we need him. If it’s not the right player, we don’t need him. I’m the one who said we don’t need a midfielder, and now we need a midfielder. You were all right and I was wrong. That is the situation. But that specific point doesn’t change it. If we do something, then it has to be the right one. Again, Curtis comes back. Thiago is not too far off. Diogo (Jota) not too far off. Joel (Matip) comes back. That eases the situation slightly. It would be great if nobody gets on the list, on the other side, it’s an intense time coming up. We know that.”
