Kerala Blasters have confirmed the signing of Spanish defender Victor Mongil from Odisha FC for the 2022/23 Hero Indian Super League season. Mongil started his career with Valladolid and made his first senior appearance in the 2011/12 season. He played for Atletico Madrid B before signing for FC Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia in 2019. Mongil played an integral part in their title win as well as their Europa League campaign.
“I am very happy to announce that I am officially a Kerala Blasters player,” Victor Mongil said. “I am looking forward to being with my teammates and for a very exciting season to begin. Surely this year together with the fans and their return to the stadiums we will be able to fight for very nice things.”
“Victor is an experienced ISL player, a team-minded guy, and a player who can cover different positions. He showed high motivation to join our project and that’s a very important factor. I wish Victor all best for the upcoming season,” sporting director Karolis Skinkys said.
Meanwhile, Greg Stewart bids farewell to Jamshedpur FC after a superb season with the club. He scored 10 goals while providing 10 assists in the 43 goals scored by the team last season. He delivered one of the best individual performances in the competition as he led them to the League Winners’ Shield.
“Thank you Greg Stewart for your immense contribution to the Men of Steel and your ever-lasting presence on the pitch which got us one step closer to creating history. We wish you the very best for your journey ahead,” the club said in a statement.
