By the time it returns from this COVID-19 triggered break, football will have changed a lot, and several new rules are to be implemented.
According to Marca, the first signs of such improvements are seen as players who have begun individualized training this week. Five substitutes are likely to be required and there will be 23 players in the matchday squads.
Rules to be implemented would be:
- Non-professional football
Playoff mechanisms will be used to determine the league tables when the season for youth football is over.
2. More rules
Teams will be allowed to make up to five substitutes during the game, and Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, has already expressed his support for the move.
3. Twenty-three man squads
LaLiga Santander and Segunda will have 23 players in their squads for the match, while the playoffs for Segunda B, Tercera, and Women’s promotion will have 20 players in their squads.
While FIFA will allow VAR to be phased out, LaLiga intends to continue to use it, and improvements to the VAR facilities will be made to protect the officials.
4. Medical Information
During the time, LaLiga will be responsible for supplying pictures of training sessions for several clubs, and clubs are allowed not to reveal any medical information from the training to prevent reports of cases from spreading. LaLiga will track all information concerning possible positive cases.
5. Measures in place
It’s worth noting that LaLiga needs mandatory steps before the competition begins again. The temperature must be controlled for those entering the stadium, accommodation must be used only by athletes, and only certain flights can be taken. Teams traveling by bus have to use two busses, screening players before flying and screening home players 24 hours before kick-off. Both players will have to change their jerseys at half time, spitting will be a yellow card and remote press conferences.
On May 16th German football comes back with several tight guidelines. Teams can not go to the pitch together, players won’t be able to touch after the goal and reserve players may need to wear a mask. No hand-shakes are required.
