Liverpool has confirmed that Diego Jota has signed a long-term contract extension with the club. Jota has scored 34 goals in his 85 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Wolves in 2020. The Portuguese international joins Mohamed Salah in committing his future after the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich. He has not been featured in pre-season after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty.
“Well, [I’m] really proud, I have to say. Obviously, since I arrived two years ago I established myself as an important player on this team – that’s what I wanted from the beginning,” Liverpool forward Diego Jota said. “Now, signing a new long-term deal, it’s obvious from the club’s perspective proof of the belief in myself as a player. For me, obviously, it’s really good to establish I’ll be here for a while. Unfortunately for me, I had an upset in this pre-season because I got injured [in the] last game of the season playing with Portugal. So I was coming back in this pre-season, and I felt it a little bit again. So it will be a few more weeks, I would say.”

That is why FSG has been so quick to add Jota, 25, to an already long list of players who have also agreed on new long-term deals at Anfield.”
