Dominic-Calvert Lewin, Conor Coady, and Danny Ings scored their first England goals as Gareth Southgate scored a 3-0 win over Wales on a friendly Thursday night at Wembley.
The in-form Calvert-Lewin, making his debut in England with nine goals in seven games, opened the scoring after 26 minutes as he headed home to Jack Grealish’s cross.
Wolves center-back Coady doubled England’s lead early in the second half, scoring his first goal in 112 club and country games when he poked Kieran Trippier’s free-kick beyond Wayne Hennessey.
Ings, another starter in the experimental England line-up, then finished the score with a close-up overhead kick after Tyrone Mings, a substitute, headed a corner back across the net.
Ings’ goal capped a rewarding night for Southgate, whose training for the game was interrupted again when Jadon Sancho, Ben Chilwell, and Tammy Abraham became England’s newest players to crack the Coronavirus guidelines over the weekend.
