The Germans couldn’t have gotten off to a better start in the match. They were ahead at 2:0 after just seven minutes.

Leon Goretzka scored the game’s first goal on a stunning first-ball shot that beat the opposition goalkeeper. Kai Havertz easily expanded his lead.

Hannes Halldorsson’s shot from the edge of the penalty area had little chance.

Germany dominated, resulting in more openings. They had the ball 77 percent of the time in the first half and did not encourage their rivals to take a single shot.

In the 56th minute, Ilkay Gundogan extended Germany’s advantage. He scored his ninth goal for the national team with a strong strike. Until the end of the game, the score remained unchanged.

Our western neighbors are off to a strong start in their World Cup qualifying bid.
