Manchester United was given a clear path to sign Kalidou Koulibaly after PSG had reportedly abandoned the center’s pursuit.
The Senegalese defender has recently been in enormous demand and is expected to leave Stadio San Paolo this summer after consistently impressing Napoli through the years.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Co have all been linked to Koulibaly, but for his signature, both United and PSG have always been front runners.
But according to French newspaper Le Parisien, PSG has now dropped out of the race for Koulibaly this summer because they think Napoli’s £63 million asking prices are too high.
According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, PSG is leaving Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United because they feel Napoli ‘s demand price is too high.
The defender is expected to leave San Paolo Stadium this summer, as it is one of the club’s last opportunities at the age of 29 to cash in on their most valuable player.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Newcastle United have also been linked, but favorites have always been Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
According to Le Parisien, the Ligue 1 giants have pulled out and are working on other goals as they think the €70 m asking price is unreasonable. This is already a huge discount, given that last season Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confessed he had turned down around € 100 m. Therefore Manchester United will have an advantage in the race for the Senegal international center-back.
In recent years, after succeeding in Serie A, Koulibaly has become one of the most sought after defensemen in world football. He has been a virtual ever-present at the backline of the Naples outfit since joining in 2014 from Belgian outfit Genk.
Koulibaly, who has played for Napoli 233 times overall, has it all-he blends his physical strength and pace on the pitch with his composure.
