Manchester United has progressed to the Europa League quarter-finals.
To be honest, European fixtures have been particularly unfair to the Red Devils this season, with the inclusion of Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig in their Champions League category just the beginning.
Since then, United has been forced to play Europa League knockout games against Real Sociedad and AC Milan, but to their credit, they have come out of both games relatively unscathed.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves praise for guiding his team through the latter, winning a prestigious 1-0 victory at the San Siro after Milan exited the first leg with a one-goal advantage.
However, as halftime approached in northern Italy, United fans must have been chewing their fingernails into dust because a 0-0 scoreline left them with just 45 minutes to score.
But here’s where Paul Pogba steps in. The mercurial French midfielder was introduced at halftime to replace Marcus Rashford, and boy did he make an impression.
Despite being fresh off the treatment table after an injury layoff, Pogba delivered a game-changing score, scoring the game-winning goal just minutes after coming on.
With the ball bouncing across the Milan penalty area, Pogba kept his cool to shoot past Gianluigi Donnarumma after fooling everybody with a false shot.
Such an important goal would have been notable for Pogba on its own, but make no mistake: his overall success at the San Siro underscored his value to United.
