Juve needs a decent result in midweek to hold their European hopes alive for 2020-21. They are in a tough place after a shock loss in their first match against Porto, but they have an away goal and one more effort will be enough to get them into the quarter-finals.
“We know very well that the pressure is on us, but we don’t hide,” Pirlo said of his team’s mission.
‘Cristiano Ronaldo is great, these are his matches,’ Pirlo said ahead of Tuesday’s last-16 match in Turin. He’s pumped, he’s had some rest, and he can’t wait.’
Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt are expected to return in time for Tuesday’s match against Porto, according to Pirlo. Although Leonardo Bonucci and Arthur, who came off the bench against Lazio, could also start.
‘[Giorgio] Chiellini practiced with the community today, he feels fine, and I believe he will play tomorrow,’ Pirlo said.
‘[Matthijs] De Ligt just did a warm-up with the squad today, then he did an individual training session.’
‘Arthur isn’t 100 percent, but he might start tomorrow, and we’re hoping he’ll be able to stay with us for a while.’
‘[Federico]’, says the narrator. Bernardeschi is good, and he can play from the start as the others, but I’ll make my decision tomorrow morning.
‘Morata is progressing a lot, he’s very optimistic, he looks for different options against different teams, he likes to study his rivals, which is a very good aspect for a striker of his caliber.’
‘[Weston] McKennie is doing fine; he’s had this problem for a while, which we’re aware of and working to address. We’re trying to treat him as best we can because he can’t play for the entire 90 minutes.’
