Arsenal wraps up a contract for Hertha Berlin

After the adolescent defender jetted into London on Thursday, Arsenal appears to be on the verge of eventually wrapping up a contract for Hertha Berlin center-back Omar Rekik. On the deadline date of the summer transfer window, the Gunners settled on a £ 900,000 fee with the Bundesliga side, with the negotiating portion of the loan transfer of Matteo Geundouzi to the German capital.

Arsenal, however, ran out of time to rubberstamp the deal and Rekik stayed with Hertha, although there was still a hope that in January the agreement would be completed.

The 18-year-old has now fueled rumors that by posting a picture of him touching down on his Instagram stories in London, an announcement is imminent.

Although in recent weeks Arsenal has suffered defensively, fans do not expect to see Rekik in the first team any time soon with the teenager seen as a possibility for the future and he may even be loaned out immediately.

Football. London previously reported that Per Mertesacker, the academy manager, had promised the young defender frequent participation in first-team training, but it could be more valuable to have regular game time.
