After receiving threats on social media following his error against Manchester City, Arsenal’s Alex Runarsson deleted his Twitter account. As Arsenal was dumped out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, Runarsson conceded four objectives and made a big mistake for City’s second goal.
Following his success between the pipes, he was targeted by harassment from fans.
The online care prompted the Icelandic goalkeeper, following his side’s 4-1 loss at the Emirates, to deactivate his Twitter account.
As Mikel Arteta launched him for their quarter-final cup clash, Runarsson has yet to make a Premier League appearance for Arsenal.
And after Gabriel Jesus went home with just three minutes on the clock, he got off to the worst possible start.
However, Arsenal hit back thanks to Alexandre Lacazette, who scored before the break to level.
But Pep Guardiola’s side reclaimed the lead courtesy of Arsenal’s back-up keeper’s howler.
