Barcelona finds itself in a deadlock move over Lyon’s talisman Memphis Depay on the deadline day but is hopeful that a deal will be reached for Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.
Former Dutch coach Ronald Koeman hopes to arrange a meeting with Depay at Camp Nou before the transfer window closes at 11 pm BST on Monday.
The 26-year-old forward has made no secret of his willingness to step on to a new challenge, and Lyon’s sporting director Juninho has stated that a valued asset already has an agreement with the League giants in place.
“He’s in his last year of the deal, he decided with Barca. Maybe he’ll leave tomorrow, but nothing is clear,” Juninho said to Telefoot on Sunday.
Goal.com can confirm that Barca intends to close the Depay signature for about € 25 million (£23m/$29 m), but can not finalize the move until Ousmane Dembele leaves the team.
Manchester United has been strongly linked to a loan deal for Dembele, and the Blaugrana are waiting for the Premier League outfit to make an official bid, but will only accept a permanent transfer as they aim to minimize their wage bill by removing the Frenchman from their books.
Dembele’s exit will leave the door open for Depay to complete a move to Camp Nou, with Barca now prioritizing the deal ahead of his pursuit of City Defender Garcia.
