As a Renato Steffen double and wonderful Maximilian Arnold strike at the other end sent the Wolves into third place courtesy of a 3-0 win at Arminia Bielefeld on Friday night, Wolfsburg maintained a club-record sixth clean sheet in succession.
The in-form visitors of Oliver Glasner made the journey to Bielefeld knowing that a point would be sufficient for the time being to take them into third and a victory would move them to the Schüco Arena within two points of RB Leipzig in second as Matchday 22 got underway.
Two goals for Wolfsburg were scored by Steffen in the 29th and 47th minutes, while Arnold concluded the victory in the 54th minute.
Wolfsburg is third in the standings with 42 points, seven fewer than leading Bayern, while Arminia is Bielefeld16. with 18 points.
