Emilio Butragueo, the director of Real Madrid, was dissatisfied with the success of chief referee Alejandro Hernández in the La Liga match against Atletico Madrid (1-1).
The ball struck Atletico defender Felipe in the penalty area at the end of the first half. The VAR method was used to determine the episode after the referee did not award a penalty, but the referee’s decision was not revised.
“It’s a penalty. This is a crucial call. The sequence was correct: the referee was asked to watch the episode after the VAR. He concluded, however, that it was not a punishment,” says the narrator.
Butragueo told Movistar+, “We were unfortunate again with Hernandez. As for the game, we would have won if it hadn’t been for Oblak. The second half was satisfactory.”
