Katia Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, defends the Juventus striker, claiming he will throw the captain’s armband in the face of the referee.
After being denied a late winner in Portugal’s draw with Serbia on Saturday, the Juventus forward charged off the field, tossing his captain’s armband to the ground.
Fernando Meira, a former Portugal international, described his behavior as “unacceptable,” but it was not the only accusation leveled at the 36-year-old.
However, one of Ronaldo’s two mothers, Katia Aveiro, defended the Juventus forward on social media.
“Cristiano is a national icon. ‘He who has no emotions cannot be the son of decent people,’ people say in their noble wisdom “she said on Instagram
“Portugal has been cheated by a scandal. Cristiano, who scored a last-minute goal that could have given us the win, was the catalyst for both his and our revolution.
“He quickly showed that the ball had missed the line by 30 centimeters, shook his head, and, even though the referee’s whistle had not yet been blown to end this robbed contest, he returned to the locker room because it wasn’t worth it.
“Overcome by fury, he hurled the captain’s armband to the ground, igniting a rebellion that consumed his soul against the motherland he had defended so many times with his teeth and claws.
“Incredible coldness and his goal were to throw the armband in the face of the referee for what he and his assistant had done to all of us.”
“However, amid the fact that we are both appalled by what happened, several television ‘experts’ dared to condemn Cristiano’s gesture.”
