Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bukayo Saka have made Alphonso Davies’ list of world football’s top five full-backs, with the Bayern Munich star being a huge fan of Liverpool’s inventive right-back and a “pretty nice player” on the Arsenal books.
As Bayern’s versatile World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard does, Achraf Hakimi, who joined up with Inter after starring on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid in 2019-20, completes the list.
Davies is also delighted to be a member of the global elite, with the 19-year-old making rapid strides in 2019 on the back of a move to Germany.
Canada international is now part of an exciting young talent community that redefines the art of full-back play in the modern age. And in that context, Alexander-Arnold has been a valuable source of goals and helps Liverpool with the Premier League title winner.
Saka, aged 18, is one of those bound for a promising future, with the Arsenal Academy graduate catching the eye in left-back and left-wing positions in north London.
Davies has noticed a few stars turn in English football, with the hot prospect at Allianz Arena choosing those he sees shining in the present and reaching even higher heights in the future.
Asked to name his favorite full-backs by 90min, the Canadian youngster said: “Hakimi is one of them. I like how Benji [Pavard] plays, scoring goals, and getting support, so these two. Of course, Trent Alexander-Arnold and I like Arsenal’s Saka. He’s a pretty good player.”
Pressing on who should finish his list, Davies said: “And me too!”
