Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti proclaims Manchester City as the champions-elect

After the runaway, Premier League leaders powered to a 3-1 victory at Goodison Park, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti congratulated Manchester City and proclaimed them the champions-elect.

After a dominant display against Everton on Wednesday, City opened a 10-point lead over second-placed neighbors Manchester United, with goals coming from Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, and Bernardo Silva.

A first-half equalizer was netted by Everton star Richarlison, but it was not enough to save the Toffees from dropping to a second consecutive defeat on Merseyside in four days, following Sunday’s 2-0 setback against Fulham.

City has won their last 12 league matches, 17 in all competitions, and Ancelotti can’t see any team preventing the high-flying side of Pep Guardiola from winning a fifth trophy in the Premier League and a seventh domestic crown in England.

‘I think so. It’s very hard to say another name,’ said Ancelotti.

Man City is in a good mood at this stage. They have excellent quality, they have confidence, they are solid.

“We tried to put the game on the strong side but it was difficult against Rodrigo, against [Ruben] Dias, against [Aymeric] Laporte.”
