Everton recently sent a bid to the defender of Lille, Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Premier League side has made a €30 m (£27 m) bid for the player, according to Claudio Russo of CalcioNapoli24.
Naples is also keen on the player but can’t match the bid. It looks like the Italian side could lose out on the Brazilian now.
Everton wants to strengthen their back four this summer so it would make complete sense to have a signing like Gabriel. This past season the Lille star was really impressive and he will raise the Toffees on the back.
Next season Gabriel could partner with the likes of Keane or Mina. His composure and game reading will certainly help Ancelotti’s team build from behind. Since John Stones’ departure, Everton has needed someone with that skill set.
It’ll be fascinating to see if Everton will tie up the deal now in the weeks ahead. They shouldn’t have any trouble agreeing with the player on personal terms. The Toffees have the resources to give him a much better deal than Lille.
The 22-year-old is a mercurial talent and at Goodison Park, someone like Ancelotti will help him achieve his potential.
