In yesterday’s Spanish Cup 1/2 final match against Sevilla, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique was injured.
The Catalan club announced today that the defender has strained his right knee’s inner collateral ligament. Pique will be out for three weeks, according to As.
That means he will most likely miss the Champions League match against PSG (1-4 first leg) on March 10 in Paris, as well as La Liga matches against Osasuna, Huesca, and Sociedad.
Clement Langlais, Samuel Umtiti, and Oscar Minges are the three central defenders available to Barca at the moment.
Pique complained of pain during yesterday’s game, but doctors checked his knee and cleared him to play. Pique limped off the field after the game.
Gerard’s goal in the 94th minute tied the score on aggregate, sending the game to extra time and advancing Barca to the Cup final.
Due to a knee injury, the 34-year-old Catalan had been out for almost three months.
