Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wants to join Tottenham this summer. Spurs had been willing to use Kyle Walker-Peters to sweeten the Saints contract according to the Evening Standard. With the Danish midfielder, Southampton has a tag of £35million and Spurs wants to lower the asking price. It’ll be interesting to see if the two clubs will come to an understanding soon.
Southampton’s 24-year-old has proven his consistency and will prove to be a fantastic addition to the midfield of Jose Mourinho. The Spurs manager needs a deep-rooted midfielder who will be able to provide defensive cover and control the tempo of the game.
That would make Hojbjerg ideally suited for that role. His presence will provide more space to play for the likes of Ndombele and Sissoko.
The 24-year-old has been recently stripped off the captaincy and Southampton is expected to cash in on him. He will be a free agent next summer and the Saints can not afford to lose him for free next year.
The change is beneficial to both parties and they will try an arrangement that will be worked out early.
Walker-Peters isn’t a regular starter for Spurs but the young defender could prove to be a strong addition to Southampton four back. If Spurs decides to include him in the deal, the Saints will have to look to pick him up.
