Following Tottenham ‘s loss at Everton in English Premier League’s 33rd round, anonymous hooligans mocked the memorial to former Everton player Dixie Dean near Liverpool Stadium.

Vandals use a flare to set fire to the statue. Images from the cameras that captured the incident were turned over to the police so they could identify the perpetrators.

Everton sent an official letter to the clubs about this situation:
“Everton assists Merseyside Police with questions regarding an ignited flare on the Dixie Dean statue outside of Goodison Park. We invite those with information to contact Merseyside Police about this disturbing and disrespectful case.”

“After reviewing and cleaning up the monument and the ground, we can gladly announce that the statue of our greatest goal scorer ever, or the floral tributes placed at the foot of the statue, has not been permanently harmed.”
