Jose Mourinho praised his Tottenham Hotspur team after they scored 100 goals this season with a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Super Sunday.
Tottenham made it three Premier League wins in a row with doubles from Gareth Bale and Harry Kane, boosting their top-four hopes.
Tottenham’s second goal of the evening was the club’s 100th goal in all competitions this season, making them the second club in Europe’s big five leagues to do so after Bayern Munich in 2020-21. (106).
Mourinho cited Spurs’ fifth consecutive win in all competitions as proof that his team is not based on divisive tactics.
“If the stats I was given are right – 100 goals scored in the season, which is not bad for a conservative, negative squad,” Tottenham’s head coach said.
“I don’t know,” he said, “and I’m not worried about it. I’m powerless over the other players. I have no leverage over what happens tomorrow; all we can do is try to get the most points possible.
Try to win as many games as possible, to accumulate as many points as possible, to play well, to not concede as many goals as possible, to score goals as much as possible, and to see what happens.
I refuse to overlook the Europa League, and I refuse to dismiss Thursday as unimportant because it is equally important to me. All we have to do now is work hard, stay together, and persevere through the tough times, as we did before.”
