After an outstanding performance by the Spaniard for RB Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann hailed Pep Guardiola’s influence on Angelino.
After stealing the spotlight in RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League, Angelino reveals the benefits of working under Pep Guardiola, says Julian Nagelsmann.
The Spaniard scored twice at Red Bull Arena, playing left field, the first of which was the result of a brilliant take-off and spin described by Nagelsmann as “world-class.”
In total, Angelino scored on the goal of two of his three attempts and made the key pass, while he also took possession of the ball six times for a Leipzig side that had less possession.
Nagelsmann was full of praise for Angelino’s performance, talking about the influence of City Chief Guardiola on his growth.
“Angelino is just negative when he doesn’t play, which only happened twice this year. That’s pretty much what his character describes,” Leipzig coach Nagelsmann said to SportsMax.
“I have to admit that he came after working under a great manager. I can’t just laud myself. He came as a well-developed player. We haven’t taken in a lot of players from Pep Guardiola yet, so we can’t make a comparison. But his transition time was short, coming from a great team and a great manager, who certainly taught him something. He’s inquisitive, he listens and implements things, because he’s a fantastic footballer with an instinct to play.”
