The Sun says Kepa and manager Frank Lampard had frank discussions in training recently and therefore the Spaniard is of the assumption he still remains the amount one choice in goal.

The 25-year-old was surprisingly dropped by Lampard for Chelsea’s last game against Leicester, with veteran goalkeeper Willy Caballero taking his place for the 2-2 draw.

Lampard decided to drop Kepa in January in favor of back-up shot-stopper Willy Cabellero, who started five of Chelsea’s last seven matches before the coronavirus-enforced break within the season.

Kepa remains “one of the simplest goalkeepers” within the business but he “has to be stronger mentally” so as to regain the amount one jersey at Chelsea, consistent with club legend Gianfranco Zola.

Frank Lampard decided to drop Kepa from his start-up for the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Leicester on February 1 after a string of underwhelming performances from the Spanish shot-stopper.

Willy Caballero was drafted in against the Foxes, with Lampard publicly stating that he hopes Kepa will come “stronger” within the face of criticism and adversity.

His cause may are helped by the but convincing performance of Caballero against the Foxes, with the previous Manchester financier, caught out of position for Ben Chilwell’s last half goal which gave Leicester the lead.

Despite the very fact he’s likely to urge his place back, there are still rumors that Lampard wants to sell Kepa within the summer, with him and therefore the board set to clash as they are doing not want to urge obviate a player they spent £72m on so soon. Kepa remains fully focused on his duties at Stamford Bridge despite his struggles in 2020 and says there’s no rift between him and Lampard, who has always shown an excellent level of trust in his abilities.
