Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp prefers Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo while he said the Juventus star was similar to a “good match.”
Although Portugal is close to perfection internationally, the Reds boss prefers the magician of Barcelona. Barcelona’s great Messi and Ronaldo are generally regarded as two of the best players of all time, but those who are better are still being debated.
Although Klopp prefers Messi, the German paid tribute to both for their dominant age, which saw them win 11 of the 12 Ballons d’Or in the past. Klopp praised the physical construction of Ronaldo but said Messi could create his magic while making it look so natural.
“For me Messi, but I couldn’t respect Ronaldo any more than I already do,” Klopp said freekickerz to YouTube site.
Klopp also explained his words. He said: “The explanation for that is as follows. We have played against both of them twice and they are almost difficult to defend. Messi’s physical standards are far lower from birth on. If you were to picture yourself as an ideal athlete, he would have Ronaldo’s height, he would be able to jump and run as far or as fast as Ronaldo does. So, on the other hand, there is the little Messi who’s doing everything. And so I may be like him a little more as a competitor on the field. But Cristiano is also a truly exceptional athlete. That’s why it’s so hard, but what they both have in common is that they’ve left their fingerprints for so long.”
Klopp was asked in an earlier interview which former Liverpool player he would sign if he could get a star back to their peak at the club. The 52-year-old announced he would choose Steven Gerrard-but he wouldn’t be an instant pick for the former skipper to jest.
