Ronald Koeman had an eventful year which saw him leave his post as boss of the Netherlands to take the Barcelona hot seat. Back in May, after suffering chest pain, the 57-year-old underwent a heart operation in Amsterdam where it was revealed that he had suffered from a minor heart attack.
The Dutchman became ill at home and underwent cardiac catheterization, which includes the injection into a vein or artery of a long, narrow tube and is normally performed without a general anesthetic.
To be taken into a stable condition, he had to leave his home in an ambulance and had to undergo surgical intervention.
That was three months before the big Barcelona news that, in the near season, he will replace Quique Setien in the hot seat, and now he has clarified that the medical incident forced him to accept the Camp Nou spot.
