Leon Goretzka was surprised to see Robert Lewandowski’s standout performance against Chelsea in Saturday’s Champions League match, despite the Bayern Munich striker’s positive nature in training.
“Of course he’s a phenomenon,” Goretzka told Sport1.
“When I saw how he practiced last week, I thought to myself: ‘Will I speak to him about why he’s not running? ‘But he said only:’ Keep still! It’s very important Saturday.'”
He continued: “[Winning the Treble] is essentially our objective, but it is a genuinely unique challenge, it has some atmosphere of a European Championship or World Cup, so we’re very heated and looking forward to the ride.”
Lewandowski’s scored in the Champions League 13 times this season, which is four shy of Cristiano Ronaldo ‘s mark for most goals in a single campaign.
