Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane wants Barcelona’s sensation Lionel Messi to remain in La Liga amid the rumors about his potential exit.

Messi, 33, is contracted to Barca until 2021, but on Thursday a report was released claiming that the six-time winner of the Ballon d’Or is considering an exit.

According to Cadena SER, Messi has stopped contract negotiations because of his frustrations with Barca – who is on track to be demoted this season by bitter rivals Madrid.

Zidane was asked about Messi speculation after Madrid pulled four points away from Barca’s two-time defending champions. Thanks to a 1-0 victory over Getafe on Thursday.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen but we don’t hesitate because he’s in this game and we want the best in this game,” said Zidane after the match.

Messi said he didn’t believe that Barcelona would win the Champions League in its current form in February.

The 33-year-old had differences with the board as well, responding publicly when sporting director Eric Abidal tried to blame players for Ernesto Valverde’s sacking in January.
