Liverpool looking elsewhere for center-back replacement after being priced out of the market by Serie A giants

At Liverpool, the hunt for a sound center-back replacement for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez continues. Despite the injury concerns his side had during the 2020/21 season, Jurgen Klopp has continued to work miracles to keep the Reds at the top of the Premier League table and competitive.

It was thought that the Reds would make a bid for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar in January, but it would seem that the Serie A giants had priced the champions of the Premier League out of a move.

The Italians want a whopping £ 54m to let him leave the club, according to Calciomercato and quoted by the Daily Mirror.

At this point, and particularly given that due to increasing coronavirus cases, there may be another break in English football, thus affecting club finances further, that kind of figure is out of reach.

While it is likely to come as a shock to Klopp, Michael Edwards, the sporting director, still seems to come up with the goods, and certainly, he’ll have someone else in mind to sign before the end of January.
