Real Madrid utility player Lucas Vazquez has warned the club that he will not wait much longer for his contract demands to be met.
The 29-year-old, who mainly plays as a winger but has recently spent more time as a reserve right-back, is out of contract this summer, and contract discussions have gone on for what seems like an eternity.
Vazquez has been a key member of Zinedine Zidane’s team this season, starting 23 of his 26 games, and he wants a raise to reflect his contribution to the team, according to ABC.
He’s calling for a 15% pay rise, but Real isn’t able to even come near. Instead, they’re demanding that Vazquez slash his salary by around 10%, as they’ve done for everyone else in the squad since the COVID-19 outbreak.
After players like Luka Modric, Casemiro, Martin Odegaard, and Luka Jovic agreed to pay cuts, Real see no way to agree to Vazquez’s demands, so negotiations over a new contract have come to a halt.
