Manchester City is weighing a swoop for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, while the club’s star Jack Grealish is also targeted.
In July of last year, City sold Luiz to Villa for £ 15 million but insisted on a £ 25 m buyback clause for the defensive midfielder.
Now, following the 22-year-fine old’s form for Villa this season, Pep Guardiola is considering a reunion.
And as they look to wrest the Premier League title from reigning champions, Liverpool, City could launch a £ 100m double raid to land the two midfielders.
As Dean Smith’s side surged to sixth in the table after an impressive start to the season, both players were still present.
Five of their seven league matches, including victories over Liverpool, Leicester, and Arsenal, were won by Villa.
Grealish was in excellent form, scoring five goals and posting six assists, and was also impressed when he began on Thursday for England in their 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.
The 25-year-old playmaker has been described by City as the perfect addition to Guardiola’s squad and is expected to swoop for the £ 70m-rated player, who has also been on Manchester United and Arsenal radar.
But in the deal of Luiz to take the Brazil midfielder back to the Etihad, they are also considering cashing in on the buyback clause – believing they can sign him without paying over the odds.
