Maurizio Sarri said he was as courageous as a Formula One racing driver as he had brushed off thinking of his future as Juventus’ head coach.

Juventus head coach Maurizio Sarri is as courageous as a Formula One racing driver when it comes to speculation about his future at the club.

At the end of the season, Sarri faced rumors that he would be sacked even though he would lead Juventus to a ninth consecutive Series A win.

The Bianconeri are six clear points at the top of the table ahead of Monday’s clash with fourth-placed Lazio, although Inter could cut that down to four with a victory over Roma on Sunday night. Juve hasn’t played either of their last three games and Sarri’s former club Napoli even knocked out of the Coppa Italia last month.

Sarri was still in a good mood when reporters asked him if he was concerned about losing his job at a Sunday media conference (via Gianluca Di Marzio).

“I have a contract and I want to respect it at all costs. Asking me if I’m concerned about my future would be like asking a Formula One driver if he’s scared of going fast. I’m happier to have someone breathing down my back,” said the ex-Chelsea manager, who had been offered a three-year deal when Juventus was taken over in June 2019.
