Chucky Lozano came off the bench after scores by Dries Mertens and Edoardo Goldaniga and immediately got the winner for Napoli, as Genoa plunges into the bottom three.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Diego Demme ‘s suspension led Nikola Maksimovic and Stanislav Lobotka to the Partenopei, who had won every Series A game except the loss to Atalanta since the lockdown’s lifting.

Genoa was powerless as Lecce’s 2-1 victory over Lazio dropped them into the bottom three but Cristian Romero joined Domenico Criscito and Ivan Radovanovic on the table.

After a bad clearance from Andrea Pinamonti, Lobotka fired wide but Napoli eventually broke through in the first half in stops. Mertens gathered from the edge of the box and rolled right-footed into the far bottom corner with absolute pinpoint accuracy.

After the restart, however, Mertens gave away an avoidable corner and Genoa made the most of it, with Edoardo Goldaniga hitting a Lasse Schone ball from six yards before Nikola Maksimovic nodded in.

Gennaro Gattuso threw on Arkadiusz Milik and Hirving Lozano for Mertens and Politano and it paid off inside 120 seconds. Chucky Lozano intelligently escaped the offside trap with a run around Davide Biraschi ‘s back to get to the end of a Fabian Ruiz ball over top and beat Perin from eight yards.

Fiorentina and Cagliari played a draw in the second game which was played at the same time (0-0)
