Lionel Messi has suggested that he will not decide his future until the end of the season, as well as teasing that he would be open to moving to MLS.
Messi’s contract with Barcelona comes to an end in the summer, ensuring he is free to sign a free transfer with clubs outside Spain in January. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been closely linked, with Barça still hoping to persuade the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to remain at the club until the end of the season.
Messi said that before the summer he would not enter into negotiations with any club, giving a television interview with La Sexta presenter Jordi Evolve, as rare as it was lengthy.
“I have nothing clear until the end of the year. I will wait for the end of the season,” he said.
“If I would not be breaking what I told you now, the important thing is to think about the team. Finish the year, think about trying to get titles, and not be distracted by other things.”
